Within the framework of a joint venture, Zech Group GmbH, which has its headquarters in Bremen, Germany, has purchased a 50 per cent holding in Construtora Tedesco Ltda, one of the largest family-run construction companies in the federal state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil. With the purchase of shares in the Brazilian company Tedesco, the Group hopes to utilize Brazil's high market potential for further growth.
Today the managing directors of both companies signed the contracts sealing their future cooperation. "Each of our companies is already strongly positioned in its domestic market. With today's partnership agreement we can make still better use of our growth opportunities,“ said the two managing directors of Zech Group GmbH, Kurt Zech and Werner B. Wilmes, explaining some of their reasons for this strategic move. Both companies have similar backgrounds, both are family businesses with a decades-long tradition, added Zech. "In Tedesco we have found a partner with which we can engage in know-how transfer in our core areas of competence, construction and real-estate development, to our mutual benefit and with which we can make use synergy effects,“ said Werner B. Wilmes. Burkhardt Schmidt, who is the managing director responsible for the construction division with the Zech Group, added: "The Latin American construction and real estate markets are amongst the fastest-growing in the world.“ In Brazil, as well as in the neighbouring countries, local companies now wish to group their strengths and jointly develop their markets. For more than ten years now Zech Group has already been locally active - via its Brazilian subsidiary Sapotec Sul Ltda. - in the fields of redevelopment of hazardous waste sites and area recycling.
Construtora Tedesco is one of the largest construction companies in Brazil's southern federal state of Rio Grande do Sul. With around 450 employees it enjoys an excellent reputation. Its customers include industrial enterprises such as Aventis, Nestlé, Dell, BMW and Rexam Glas. Many construction orders come from the local and state authorities. These include construction orders for universities, thermal power stations, radio and TV towers and medical centres.
